One League // Lya Gobetti

We’ve met with Lya at MSI 2023, where she shared more about her experience going to League events, and the friends she’s made on the Rift.

“I'm originally from Brazil, but I've come to MSI from Brighton and I’m so happy to do London, finally! My first League of Legends championship was in Brazil and this is my third time coming to a live event. It’s been so amazing. The stage looks incredible and everyone's energy is so good. I'm just excited to be here because the community is incredible and you feel the energy of everyone here and I just love it. I am very proud to be here supporting the guys and just hoping to see them play their best!

Riot has so many queer people working for them and has so many women, I think they've been so open to embracing everyone from everywhere and it's just fun to watch, and it’s fun to be a part of such a diverse group of people and a diverse group of fans in a community. I think having events like this where you have people - who often only play each other or know each other online - come together to just have that presence, meet each other and just hang out, it strengthens the bond between everyone, between the community and the friends, and just reminds everyone why they like it so much.

I started playing League of Legends at a time that I really needed a friend and I started playing with my brother in law, and it was amazing to see how people came together and wordlessly knew what to do and just support each other in the game. Having that shared experience is just amazing and that's why I love League of Legends and why I keep playing it and keep watching it.”
