The SEA Server Merge is Coming!

Players on the Thailand, Philippines, Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia servers can soon play together on 1 server!

For the past two years, we’ve heard your calls. Today, we’re excited to announce a major step forward for players on the Thailand, Philippines, and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia servers. The long-requested Southeast Asia (SEA) server merge is soon becoming a reality!

Why are we doing this? The answer is simple: to create the best possible experience for every game you play and to bring more players across the region together. Here’s what you can look forward to with this new unified Southeast Asia (SEA) server:

Improved Matchmaking Experience

With a larger pool of players, matchmaking will be faster and more accurate. Whether you're queuing for ranked or are a new player looking for a balanced battle, you can expect to be paired with teammates and opponents that match your skill level with closer precision.

Smooth, Low-Latency Gameplay

Say goodbye to major lag spikes and connection issues. By centralizing our server infrastructure, we’re bringing you smoother gameplay across all locations involved. It’s time to play like the pro you are without the frustration of connection hiccups.

This is the next step in ensuring that your League journey is as competitive, exciting, and rewarding as it can be. Thanks so much for playing League, and we can’t wait to see you all on the Rift, united under a single server!

WHEN WILL THE SERVERS BE MERGED?

This merge will go live with patch 15.1, which you can expect from January 9, 2025, SEA time. Patch 15.1 kicks off the first season of League's brand-new seasonal model, picking up where Arcane Season 2 leaves off. Dive deeper into the tales of Noxus as we continue to explore the journeys of its formidable champions with new gameplay updates, skins, modes, mini-games, and champions.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

Just sit back, and patch! The server merge is expected to be completed within the same downtime expected for patch releases, and will be done server by server. Do note that as soon as your account is rolled over to the merged server, you’ll no longer be able to access your old local server. The old servers will also be inaccessible during the patch downtime.

SERVER MERGE FAQ

When will the servers merge and how long will it take?

January 9, 2025 with patch 15.1. You can expect the same downtime expected for patch releases, which is approximately four hours from start to finish. Should downtime be extended unexpectedly, we will be sure to inform you on our social channels.

What must I do to prepare?

You will just have to update our League game client when patch 15.1 goes live! Please note that as with normal patch releases, RP purchases will be temporarily disabled during the patch downtime window.

I play on multiple servers. What should I do if I have a preferred account to carry on to the merged server?

All accounts will transfer to the merged server, so each account you have will make it across the line. After that, you can choose which one you’d like to log into and play with, but you should still be able to access all your accounts on the merged server based upon login.

Can I take this opportunity to transfer to other servers besides this merged server?

Account Transfers remain available as usual, but free transfers are not being offered for the time of this server merge.

Will items or RP be priced differently in the merged server compared to the individual Thailand, Philippines, and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia server?

You will still be able to pay for RP in the same local currency that you used in your previous server.

Will there be other server mergers in the future?

At this present time, we are focused on this SEA server merge. We will be sure to share updates if there are any other changes in the future.

How will the server merge affect my latency?

If you’re playing in Thailand or in the Philippines, you may experience a ping increase of 20ms or so, but this will have little to no impact on your overall gameplay experience. You can expect a similar ping rate to that of VALORANT in those locations.

Will the game and client still be localized in my local language after the server merge?

There will be no changes to your game and client language options.

Will Player Support change after this server merge?

Player Support remains the same for Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia. Response languages remain tied to the Region of Residence information on your account, so you should not experience any differences to your Player Support experience.

Does this server merge impact LoL Esports in Thailand, Philippines, Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia?

Earlier this month, we announced updates to the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), including information about the promotion and relegation (P&R) system of the tournaments. The P&R tournament acts as a gateway into the LCP, a top tier regional competition that is set to be the only route for teams within each respective region to qualify for global events such as MSI and Worlds.
We’re actively looking at ways to widen access to the LCP beyond the established domestic leagues. One such way is through the wild card slot in the P&R tournament. Participating regions for the wild card slot so far include Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia, with opportunities open to other regions as well. More details on the wild card slot will be shared next year.
