TL;DW: Champions, Lore, Modes & More Dev Diary

A short rundown of updates from Riot Brightmoon and Meddler.

Hey folks, Riot Brightmoon and Meddler here to follow-up on our video from January. Unlike most /dev blogs we won’t be hitting you with meticulously edited paragraphs and snappy section headers, instead here’s a TL;DW of today’s follow-up video in case text is more your speed:

  • We’re doing more lower production videos featuring different League devs to have timely conversations.
  • We’re ramping up on updates to older champions and game modes which may slow new champion releases.
  • We’re trying to do Art & Sustainability Updates (ASUs) faster and are working on Lee Sin and Teemo.

  • We’re updating our champion pricing model, you can read more in today’s /dev blog.
  • We’re figuring out how to make our lore and storytelling consistent across Runeterra. More on this later.
  • We released a /dev blog on the State of Modes.

  • We’re bringing over some skins debuted in Wild Rift, including Star Guardian Seraphine, Redeemed Star Guardian Xayah, and Redeemed Star Guardian Rakan. No timelines yet, but we’ll let you know.
  • We’re updating some older splash art, starting with Rugged Garen.

  • Clash is delayed because of the security breach, but should be returning in March.
  • March will be our first Clash in Southeast Asia—more info for you all soon!
  • ARAM Clash will be making a return.
  • We’re using cloud servers to help reduce the frequency you see login queues.
  • Over the next few months players in Southeast Asia should see lower ping as we add more servers.
  • We’re upgrading our server hardware in EUNE and Korea to improve overall performance sometime in the middle of the year.

That’s it for us for now, please let us know if having a written TL;DW is useful and we’ll try to include them in the future! GLHF and we’ll see you on the Rift.
